It’s not often that I take the time to talk about beverages, generally I leave that good stuff to Susie Drinks Dallas, but in the case of Bobaddiction, I have a lot to chat about.
There is just something about boba tea that I effin’ love. Those slimy, little balls that are bouncing around at the bottom of a frozen drink scream summer. Get your mind out of the gutter, perv.
On a particularly sweltering evening, I headed over to Bobaddiction which was set up in the Dallas Arts District for Patio Sessions. For those of you who regularly follow my blog, you already know that I have a sick obsession with all things Asian and am really picky when it comes to things of Asian-ness. Although Bobaddiction is a self proclaimed, “Taiwanese boba tea and shaved snow food truck,” let’s face it – you can get boba tea in countries outside of Taiwan so they are going to fall under my category of Asian-ness. Before you freaks start to hate, I’m Asian and don’t mean this in a derogatory way at all. Boba tea is from Asia, is it not? That is all.
I digress. For a mere, $4 you can grab a super delicious and refreshing milk or fruit tea, but if you really want to up the ante, order their shaved snow for $8. I guarantee whichever way you decide to go, you won’t be disappointed. Bobaddiction has several flavors that their patrons can choose from, including fruit based or milk based teas. On top of combinations like lychee green tea and honeydew milk tea, they also have a flavor of the week which they rotate for a little extra surprise. The teas were sweet without being migraine inducing, the boba was fresh and didn’t have the sour aftertaste that too often occurs. The guys working the truck are as nice as can be and you can tell they are really passionate about their heritage and spreading the boba love.
My favorite part of the truck, aside from the bad-ass eyebrows they drew on the sun visors that live in the front windows, was the shaved snow. I didn’t even give an ounce of thought to ordering it when I saw it on the menu because I’m not a big snocone person. After the gents convinced me that it was nowhere near a snocone situation, I gave in and had them make me one. Yowza! The “snow” resembles fluffy, frozen cotton candy more than a block of frozen water, and is topped with condensed milk, fresh fruit and boba. It is the most delicious frozen yogurt type thing you will ever have, I personally guarantee it.
If you are a boba lover or just a good shit lover, you need to track this truck down. With the weather cooling off, it will be much more enjoyable to rejoicing the happiness that Bobaddiction will bring you instead of sweating your boba balls off standing outside. They have a great website where you can stalk the menu as well as check out their schedule for the week. Take a peek here and let us know what you think!
